Current statutory hourly rates
From 1 April 2026
| Worker category | Hourly rate |
|---|---|
| Aged 21 and over | £12.71 |
| Aged 18–20 | £10.85 |
| Under 18 (above school leaving age) | £8.00 |

The apprentice rate generally applies to apprentices under 19, or aged 19+ in the first year of their apprenticeship. After that, the rate for their age normally applies.
Employer reminder: deductions, unpaid working time and incorrect pay reference periods can cause minimum wage underpayments even if the headline hourly rate looks correct. Rates typically change on 1 April; review this page annually.
